E S T O R A T I O N
In
restoring a piece of furniture, we work, as far as possible, according to the
way it was originally built. This means that we use the same antique woods and
other materials, the same finishing methods, and, where feasible, also the same
varnishes and glues, such as the well-known bone glue. All these are chosen to
fit the style of the piece to be restored.
The
restorations we execute daily include:
-
gluing
chairs together firmly
-
repairing
old colour and varnish
-
re-colouring
furniture
-
repairing
broken dowels and joins
-
gluing
cracked or broken parts
-
re-creating
(parts of) missing carvings
-
repairing
locks and hinges
-
removing
stains or traces of damage from fire
-
gluing
flat bubbles old veneering
-
restoring
or replacing the runners of drawers
-
finding
or making fittings to match existing ones
-
gluing
in place felt or leather, e.g. on desk tops
-
cutting
keys
You
may want to have a piece of furniture restored, but be unable to bring it in to
our workshop. In that case, within the Eindhoven/Helmond region, we will come to
you, free of charge or obligation, to inspect the piece. After inspection, we
will discuss the restoration with you. We will fix a price, so that you will get
no nasty surprise afterwards. Should you then decide to entrust the work to us,
we will take care of expert handling, transportation and storage. You must,
however, allow a waiting time of several months before we can start the work.
Once started, the restoration is usually completed, and the piece returned to
you, within 1 to 2 weeks.
